6 TEAK UPHOLSTERED DINING CHAIRS - BY ROBERT ARMITAGE FOR ARCHIE SHINE
A set of 6 chairs luxurious dining chairs designed by Robert Heritage for Archie Shine Hamilton Range circa 1960s.
Each chair has been restored, the teak frames have been stripped and had two coats of Osmo wax oil applied. The seats were stripped down, old foam, webbing and upholsterery all replaced by hand with new by our skilled upholsterer.
We have chosen a contemporary wool and rami fabric manufacturer in by Svesson a Swedish company. Rami Plus fabric combines a matt 80% wool and a silkier feel of ramie nettle fibre, not unlike the cool experience of linen. The different colours used in the warp and weft create a fabric with a beautiful effect - see the close up photo. Ramie was once called poor man's silk and was used for its durability and beautiful lustre, for example in Napoleon's soldiers' uniforms. The two different yarns result in an irregular surface. The yarns absorb colour dye differently, offering the fabric lustre, depth and life.
You'll find the chairs are extremely comfy and would compliment any mid century teak dining table.
Please note with any vintage items there may be slight signs of wear. Viewing is always welcome in our West Yorkshire workshop.
